This Renault Safrane Phase II retrofit kit contains everything you need to swap your old, blacked-out single-xenon (low-beam xenon only) projectors for powerful new bi-xenon (both low- and high-beam xenon) projectors. Of course, with the Mini H1 being such a common retrofit, there are plenty of cheap kits on the market, many of which are claiming superiority by labelling themselves version 6.0, 7.0, etc. But names are pointless here; what matters is the actual output, so we’ll let the test pictures speak for themselves.

The Mini H1 Primo is our original design. It provides a dazzling light output unmatched by most OEM projectors. Yet, this is the more basic of the two models. The Ultimo is our new Mini H1 design. Going beyond even the Mini H1 Primo, it offers a further 20-25% improvement in light output! In addition to its superior reflector, the Ultimo also features improvements such as a rock-solid threaded bulb mount and an alloy steel lock nut. No matter which model you pick, you will enjoy crystal-clear 2.5 lenses, bulb colour temperatures ranging from 4300K to 6500K and a wide low beam with a bright hotspot and sharp cutoff. The high beams are like the sun – truly impressive for a projector this compact.

Such a light output would not be possible without efficient ballasts. If you’re happy with the ballasts that you’ve already got, simply leave them in place. Alternatively, add a set of our Aharon digital 35W ballasts to your order. The Aharon ballast has – as opposed to many other aftermarket units – been tested to generate a full 35W. It comes in a rugged and extremely compact housing perfect for retrofitting, and its in-wire starter warms xenon HID bulbs in as little as five seconds. The Aharon ballast is also Canbus-proof, so you won’t get any bulb failure readings on your display. Please be advised, the input is a 9006 type connector, OEM ballasts usually have different input connectors. So you will need to find the Positive and Negative wire which are used for the low beam signal to connect to the input of the ballast. Also mounting will be different. So this requires some DIY. A high beam splitter is also included, making for easy integration of the bi-xenon mechanism. With the Aharon ballasts and wiring, power supply is strong, steady and reliable. And because only the projector is replaced, the leveling system keeps working as original.

Lastly, this kit provides every single part that you will need for retrofitting. In order to keep the price low, we have however assumed that you will keep your existing xenon HID bulbs. Depending on how old those are, you may want to also order a new set of bulbs to get the most out of your retrofitted system. Xenon bulbs do lose up to 70% of their maximum brightness over time.
